About 230 whales have been discovered on Ocean Beach at Strahan in Tasmania, half are estimated to still be alive.

Rescuers are racing to the site in an attempt to save as many as possible in a treacherous stretch of water. It's two years to the day since 460 pilot whales were stranded at the same site.
