WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A local man took home two medals and a national recognition from the Senior Olympics.
Lebanon resident Robert Arledge, aged 90, competed in the 2023 National Senior Games in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
For the 90-94 age group, he won the gold medal in the men's 100-yard backstroke and earned silver in the men's pole-vault.
In addition, Arledge was chosen out of 11,500 competitors to be one of just 28 "Humana Game Changers."
It's given to athletes who exemplify healthy aging and provide encouragement, motivation, and inspiration for all seniors to live healthy lifestyles.
Arledge pole-vaulted in high school and college before serving in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years as a physical therapist.
He says he now helps train Lebanon and Dayton high school athletes in pole-vaulting.
