Orsted has applied for permits to build four additional gigascale offshore wind projects in Sweden that would push its portfolio there to a massive 18GW – enough to cover more than half of the Nordic country’s total electricity consumption.
The Danish developer said the new sources of power are urgently needed, given that Sweden’s electricity consumption is expected to double by 2035.
