E. coli O157:H7 is a particular strain of Escherichia coli that is known to cause severe intestinal infection in humans. A nationwide health alert has been issued for Greater Omaha ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. The impacted raw ground beef items were produced and packaged on March 28, 2024, with a “Use/Freeze by” date of April 22, 2024, and “EST.960A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. |

Late last year, a rare lake, dubbed Lake Manly, began forming in the Badwater Basin area of California’s Death Valley. Death Valley National Park, which normally averages about two inches of rain per year, received 4.9 inches between late 2023 and early 2024, with the surrounding mountains receiving greater amounts of rain. A satellite found that right after a series of storms in early February, the temporary lake was about 6 miles long and 3 miles wide, with depths up to about 3 feet.

A recently published study from the American Psychological Association shows that older adults think old age begins later in life than they did in the past. Now, middle-aged and older adults believe old age begins at 75. Earlier generations were more likely to say they believed old age began at 71, according to the study. |

In 68 of the largest U.S. cities the average price has more than doubled in less than 10 years. In terms of overall highest prices, eight of the top 10 most expensive U.S. cities in the fourth quarter of 2023 were in California. |
