Patel says he'll sue Atlantic for defamation over report on heavy drinking

FBI Director Kash Patel said Sunday that he will sue The Atlantic for defamation after the magazine published a Friday story detailing his alleged drinking habits and absences from the bureau.

“Absolutely. It’s coming tomorrow,” he told host Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures" about the forthcoming lawsuit.

Wright says Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until Iran deal is reached

Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz will likely remain closed until the U.S. and Iran reach a deal to permanently end hostilities.

“After a deal is reached,” Wright told host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” when the latter asked when it will be safe for ships to pass through the critical chokepoint.

Kaine: Strait of Hormuz should be 'open to all'

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine (D) said Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened for all shipping traffic after Iran announced the waterway's closure over the U.S. blockade. 

"If they're going to be open, I think they have to be open to all," Kaine told Fox News's Shannon Bream on "Fox News Sunday" as the U.S. military has stopped some ships from traveling in the Strait and blocked Iranian ports.

Tapper, Stefanik spar over Trump's 'whole civilization will die' message to Iran

CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) had a contentious discussion Sunday about President Trump saying earlier this month that a “whole civilization will die” in Iran. 

During an interview on “State of the Union,” Tapper referenced college students chanting, “From the river to the sea,” during protests against the Israel-Hamas war and asked Stefanik whether she believes that “wiping out an entire civilization is genocidal and nobody should make a call to do such a thing?”

Waltz on US boarding Iran-linked vessels: ‘All options are on the table’

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz on Sunday said “all options are on the table” when it comes to limiting Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz and economic benefits tied to opening the critical shipping channel. 

When asked if U.S. troops would board vessels headed to China, Waltz said, “Well I’m not going to get into operational timelines, but I’ll tell you all options are on the table. The president’s prepared to escalate to de-escalate,” during a Sunday appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Wright: Gas prices dropping below $3 ‘might not happen until next year’

Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday that gas prices may not drop below $3 until next year, as energy prices spike amid Iran’s restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

“I don’t know. That could happen later this year. That might not happen until next year,” Wright told host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” when the latter asked whether he thinks it is “realistic” for Americans to expect gas prices to dip below $3 per gallon.

Republican gubernatorial candidate dismisses Trump’s approval rating in California

Steve Hilton, a Republican running for governor in California, said Sunday that President Trump’s low approval rating in his state will not play a role in the outcome of the gubernatorial race.

“This election is going to be about the future of California and the fact that we’re desperate for change in California,” Hilton, whom Trump endorsed earlier this month, told host Chris Stirewalt on “The Hill Sunday.”
